About Jeremy

JeremyEnke.com is the personal blog and journal of Jeremy Michael Enke.

I suppose an “About Me” page is where you would expect to read a third person professional write up on myself. Hmmm…. well that’s not really my style, so I’ll just go ahead and tell you “about me” in my own words.

I am 32 years old and married with two beautiful daughters. Everything I do in this world that involves becoming successful or making money is all for these 3 people.

After high school I really had no clue what I wanted to do, so I did what every other 18 year old does and went away to college with no major or game plan. About a year into this, I realized that I really wanted to become a paramedic/firefighter. I’m certain I watched too much Rescue 911 as a kid. Needless to say I came back to my hometown, got my EMT license, joined the fire department, and began working at the hospital for an ambulance service.

This was the greatest and most rewarding job I have ever worked. In fact have I never experienced anything more rewarding than helping people dealing with emergencies. I seriously doubt I would be where I am at today had I not had these experiences. I spent over 9 years working as a firefighter and EMT. Throughout this time I realized that life is too great of a gift, and sometimes too short to waste it. While working on the ambulance I was completing my bachelors degree in business management and communications.

Unfortunately though, working for a private ambulance did not fall into line with my future financial goals.

After completing my degree at Concordia University Wisconsin I ventured into pharmaceutical sales. The drugs I represented were Claritin, Nasonex, and Tequin. What a dream job at the time. I was in my mid 20′s making over $100K a year with a company car, a laptop, an expense account, and a pretty liberal work schedule. In fact during my last year at this company I led the division in sales. Our team was also in the top 5% of the nation earning me kick ass commissions and an all-inclusive trip to Las Vegas. 3 days later I quit……

Although the money and perks were good, I wanted more. Because of my successful sales background thus far, I had been recruited by a few various companies.  One of these companies was Pulte Homes. When I interviewed there, I saw fresh college graduates driving brand new Lexus’s and Mercedes Benz’s. It was seriously like a scene out of the movie Boiler Room. This looked too good to be true, however I knew real estate was booming at the time so I thought, “maybe this is for real”. Although I would have to leave my easy 6 figure pharmaceutical job, the risk/reward factor looked very much worth it. Too make a long story short, it was not to good to be true. My first year with this home builder I was voted rookie of the year. The second year my sales were in excess of $18 million. Jeremy Enke<—–Ballin. :)

But once again, as time went by I was not happy being stuck in a suit and having to answer to the man. Rewind a couple years back……while I was still selling pharmaceuticals. I was also beginning to learn about internet marketing and affiliate programs. I sold products on Ebay and did tons of PPC via google adwords with various gaming sites. I also started my own online casino which was a complete failure and cost me between $15K – $20K. Jeremy Enke<———Not Ballin :)

Although I was not making enough money to quit the builder yet, I was quickly learning that poker and casino affiliate programs were cash cows just needing to be milked. I dug deep into this niche and did about every type of online and off line marketing campaign you can think of. There were a lot of ups and downs such as the casino, likewise a lot of money pissed out the window. But overall my income was rising and I was doing very well. I knew the next step was to leave the real world, get the hell out of Corporate America, and work on my own.

PartyRiches EbookAt some point in 2004 I was looking for a forum or community to interact with just poker affiliates since I was a Poker Affiliate myself. Sure there were a handful of marketing forums and a couple casino affiliate forums, but none just for poker affiliates. So I figured I would just create my own. One problem though, how would I get other poker affiliates to my new community? Well I wrote an ebook called Party Riches, had a video made, and then sold it on Ebay.

Funny story about that too. I actually wrote the entire ebook and accidentally erased it from my hard drive. I almost just scrapped the whole project, luckily I forged ahead and re-wrote it.

Anymore the book would be very outdated. But at the time it served the purpose and actually allowed me to help new affiliates while beginning to build my own database of poker affiliates. I never really cared about the measly $39.95 from the Ebook. In fact I gave tons away for free to people that signed up as subs underneath me. Furthermore, I knew this business model had the opportunity to grow into something very special if I continued to implement the plans I had written down for the site.

The community continued to grow at a steady pace. It soon became more than just a sales page for the book and developed into an actual website with news, articles, and a forum. As the site continued growing, my partner Randy and I at the time decided to re-brand it to “Poker Affiliate World”. During this period, to many people saw the community as just a community of Party Poker Affiliates. The re-branding took place, and the site formerly known as Party Riches became PokerAffiliateWorld, A.K.A. (PAW).

At some point in early 2006, PAW started becoming an authority site in the industry. The site was also starting to make significant revenue from paid advertising with the various poker sites. Personally I was also starting to branch out into some consulting and other projects as well. It was at this time however that I realized I wanted to take PAW to a new level. The idea of a poker affiliate network was very intriguing, but I really didn’t have the, knowledge, or resources at the time.

I approached PokerNews about a potential partnership. We partnered for a couple years and created the largest poker affiliate network in the world. In December of 2007 however I decided to buy back the poker affiliate forums and partner with my friend Warren from Affiliate Programs Inc.  I would manage the entire poker side of the business for the company as well as several other projects.

Somewhere between grinding it out on my own in the beginning, and achieving the successes and experience I have achieved up to this point; I feel I am one of the most well rounded people in the poker affiliate industry. Call it arrogant if you want, but I call it confidence. I have been offered jobs at some of the largest poker websites in the world making ridiculous amounts of money. Ten years ago, I may have relocated to some strange country and given it a try. For now though I am focused on growing my own business while at the same time being a great husband and father.

There you go my friends. You have just been given a glimpse of my last few years all wrapped up into one blog page.

My 4 goals with this blog are to inspire, intrigue, motivate, and of course for those of you that know me, entertain. I know this was a long page, but you are the one that clicked on the “About Jeremy” tab and made it all the way to the end. :)

Great story. You make me continue my dream of one becoming a full time poker affiliate. Great blog too by the way. Thanks for sharing :)

Jeremy, I for one are very happy you didn’t scrap the PartyRiches project when you lost it on your hard drive the first go around! The PartyRiches ebook is how I found you and how we learned learned what it takes to be a successful poker affiliate.

Thanks again,

Spry

Jeremy, Great website. You’ve come a long way from sleeping in till noon at college. You weren’t staying up late for poker then, but to cheat at super tecmo bowl instead. You’re still the 2nd best Enke born 31-years ago! Best of luck with all your endeavors. Jason

Great read. Very interesting story. That is definetly some good motivation for all the affiliates just starting out there, and also for those stuck in a rut or just plain lazy (like me).

Jeremy this is a great story about how you came up in this industry. When I first started reading your forum and articles years ago I was working full time driving a bus. Now I am making twice that affiliating in different industries.

You have been an inspiration and mentor to many people including me. Thank you sir.

The forums at paw have helped me go from making only a couple hundred a month to a few thousand. You have an interesting “life story”. Thanks for the blog.

You have a lovely family and a nice target to work for. Congratulations!

This is the first time I’ve read this and its always great to hear other people have created a career in this industry.

PAW/PAP has been a great resource to my affiliating business. :)

Wow I can’t believe I missed this (must be the new design)

This is a great story and I love reading about how you guys started.

I guess there is always someone out there who thinks it’s awesome to make a living at the expense of people’s gambling addictions. I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night, but that’s just me. It all seems very shady. Also, if you add up all the years in your work background history, you are either lying about your age, or lying about your years of “huge successes” in the sales game, because that just doesn’t add up. Good luck dude.

Thanks for the feedback Drew. I am certifiably 32 years old and have been in sales of some sort for the last 12 years. I don’t understand what doesn’t “add up”.

Keep in mind I worked in Corporate America while I was beginning my internet business.

Anyhow, addiction is not limited to online gaming. Do you feel the same way about the entrepreneur that opens up a gas station or supermarket and has a liquor section or sells cigarettes? My guess is addiction to these substances kills for individuals and ruins more lives each year than online poker.
