Monday Motivation - Don’t Be Afraid To Fail

    Monday, April 28th, 2008

I have written on this topic before, however I feel it is very important so I will publish another post on this. Everyone knows that in order to be successful long term, you are going to have to take some risks and experience some failures along the way.

Every entrepreneur or millionaire I know can probably count on one hand the ultimate successes that got them to where they’re at. Yet each could probably fill a book with the stories on their failures. When I look back over the past 10 years of my professional life, I have to shake my head at some of the decisions I’ve made. I have failed at so many projects, sites, and ventures it is almost comical. The good news however is that the ones that worked out have put me exactly where I want to be in life.

I have a great home, a career that I always dreamed of, and most importantly a great family at the age of 31. The times I have failed or lost a ton of money in various endeavors sucks, I am not going to lie about that. The thing is though that I was able to put these failures behind me and keep moving forward to achieve my goals.

What I see far to often happen when people fail is that they give up. People get discouraged and just go back to their comfort zones. One of the other most important attributes you see in successful people is perseverance. It’s not that “failure is not an option” for these people, it’s that they NEVER GIVE UP when faced with failure.

So no matter what mistakes you have made, or what failures you have encountered, there are 3 things you need to do:

    1. Accept the failure

    2. Learn from the failure

    3. Stay Positive and move on with your life’s goals.

The beauty about being an entrepreneur is that you get as many chances as you want to try new things in your path to success. The unfortunate thing however is when you look at the big picture, in life you only get one chance to “make it happen”. So stop procrastinating or feeling sorry for yourself about past failures. Right now is the time to get out of your comfort zone and take some risks. And always remember, there truly are a million ways to make a million dollars, you only have to find one. Make it a great week!

How “Not To Be” A Baller When You Travel

    Friday, April 25th, 2008

Lately I have been traveling quite a bit, and there is one thing I have noticed going in and out of airports all the time. There are so many middle age dudes that are trying so hard to have the look of “baller”. If you do any of the things mentioned below in this post, well….. you are not a baller.

First off, if you are at an airport wearing khakis, a blue blazer, scuffed up penny loafers, and a 6 year old laptop with an actual card bearing a cellular antenna attached to get wireless………you are not ballin dude.

This is 2008, not 1968. There is no reason to travel in suit or even business casual, unless you are getting off the plane and going directly to a meeting, then you get a pass. The khaki’s / blue blazer combination however is so far from baller that I’ll just stop here.

And to make yourself look even more non baller, go ahead and walk around with the gay bluetooth earbug in your ear everywhere you go at the airport, because obviously this shows that your very important. Surely pulling a phone out of your pocket when it rings would be way too much work. Then when you actually get a call on your earbug, talk as loud as you can so the whole terminal can hear that you are “talking business”. People will genuinely be impressed and envious…..Um No.

Then when you get on the flight (in coach of course) make sure to have a banana and a bottled water in your carry on brought from home because you don’t want to spring the five bucks for a snack box.

Whether you make 25K a year or 2.5M a year; people in airports don’t give a fu** about anyone else or other peoples social or financial status. Most people I know just want flights to be on time and to get where they’re going. Why is it that some people at airports love to play the role of “I am a baller” but can’t back it up properly.

Since this has been on my mind lately, I have noticed these types of travelers even more, and to be honest it is really quite comical. If you want to know who the true ballers at airports are, they are usually the ones sitting in the terminal looking like normal people, dressed in regular clothes, waiting on a plane……

“Baller” at the airport is someone who looks like the regular “Joe”, but is flying on a $10K first class ticket and just sits in the terminal reading a business magazine minding their own business.

My PAP Radio Show Is Now Live

    Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

As many of you know I have wanted to do a radio show for PAP for quite a long time. Web 2.0 is all about creating an interactive community and having your members contribute and get to know each other better. I can’t think of a better way than doing a radio show.

So today I spent pretty much athe entire afternoon pulling my hair out and trying to adjust knobs and settings on a big mixer of which I know nothing about. At dinner with my wife, I actually told her “I don’t think this is going happen tonight.” Nonetheless I focused called and bothered ton of people through the computer, and tweaked the settings enough that we could go live.

Overall, I am extremely happy with the first show. We had a great audience, and awesome guests. I am already looking forward to next weeks show and growing the radio segment of the business to be a a staple of the PAP community. This will be the official PAP Radio show page. It’s not being promoted yet but you can always check back at this URL for podcasts, schedules, and updates. If you’d like to listen to the most recent beta podcast you can do so below bt clicking the image. Also please share your feedback or suggestions for the show next week.

Monday Motivation - Good To Great Podcast With Karl Ericksen

    Monday, April 21st, 2008

As many of you know, I am setting up a radio show for PAP. I am very excited about doing internet radio in general as it’s very 2.0 and something that is going to get even bigger in the next 5-10 years.

One of my best friends and guest writers on this blog is Karl Ericksen. Yesterday him and his MILF wife came over to hang out for the day. Karl agreed to help me test the new radio equipment by doing a podcast as well.

If you’ve ever wanted to meet someone who has literally started a business from scratch and now manages a multi-million dollar yearly business, meet Karl.

We both had so much fun doing this, we may just do a regular Karl & Jeremy radio show every Thursday night before we go out for beers. Click this link or image below to listen to the mp3.
