Monday Motivation - So You Want To Make Six Figures? Then Develop A Six Figure Mindset

    Monday, March 10th, 2008

Six Figure MindsetIt has always amazed me that there is this stigma surrounding “Making Six Figures”. I suppose it’s the same thing as being a “millionaire”. It’s like once you get to a yearly income of $100K, nothing else matters.

The perception of a person making between $101k a year or $150K a year is the same…….they are six figure earners so there’s really no difference. Yet the perception and difference between $89K a year and $100K seems more significant for some reason. If you told people you made $98,500 last year, most would say “wow, you’re almost there”.

The whole “six figure” thing seems retarded to me. I have made over $100K a year since 2001. My first 100K+ year was when I sold pharmaceuticals. I remember feeling like I had just hit the pinnacle of life with this type of income. At the time, it felt really cool to say “I make six figures”. Now I hate thinking that way. I want to be able to say “I make 7 figures”. If someone asked me now days if I make over six figures a year, I would say “Yea, unfortunately, but not for long”.

Something interesting happened after 2001 though. I preceded to quit my job selling Claritin as it went over the counter and I was going to take a huge pay cut anyways. I got into real estate and worked through the good times and bad times. Likewise I was also starting to generate income from my internet business. What changed after 2001 however was that my expectation was to always make a six figure type income, no matter what I did. I have never really expected to, or even worried about making less.

Keep in mind every job since 2001, I have worked on commission and performance plans. I have never in my life even had a base salary over $35K I don’t think! The point is, even back then my mindset was programed to think in these amounts. I knew my performance had to be at a certain level to maintain the income I had became accustomed to. All I had to do, and still have to every day, is to make sure my work ethic and actions align with my financial goals.

So as an affiliate, if you are starting new sites or projects and hoping they generate $1K - $5K in the coming months; you shouldn’t expect to make six figures, because your mindset and expectation level is stuck in 1st gear.

Every bonafide millionaire that I know is a millionaire because they think in 7 figures. I realize you can’t change your mindset from making a few thousand a month to a millionaire mindset overnight. But if your long term goals are financially driven, then at some point you have to start thinking in those terms.

I remember when my mindest was in the 3 figures! If I worked OT and made an extra $200 on my check I was super excited, and it did make a difference. Then at some point “hundreds” stopped mattering. I’m sure many other people can think back to those days, and eventually the same thing happens in the 4 and 5 figure mindset.

I am going through an interesting transition in my life right now, where I am being forced to raise the bar on my own mindset. It is actually very exciting, but it reminded me of how important it is to have your mindset in these dollar amounts.

The only person who has the right to tell me that I can’t make a 7 figure yearly income is myself. And if I tell myself this, or can’t in my mind envision or fathom consistently making over a million dollars a year, then it will never happen. I remember when people used to give me a hard time about “trying to make money on the internet”……. Who’s laughing now bitches!

    Make it a great week!

Money Never Sleeps, A Favorite Quote of Mine

    Friday, March 7th, 2008

My MoneyOften times I do work late nights, and it seems like the last week or two I have worked a lot of them. I know one of my New Years resolutions was to go to bed earlier, but quite honestly I do some of my best work at night, and I just can’t bring myself to follow through with it.

The kids are in bed, the wife is asleep, and skype/email are pretty quiet. Plus I know every hour I work, I am doing something that is making great money.

Every good New Years Resolution failure has to have an excuse though. I honestly did not realize how much opportunity was about to be handed to me when I started with Affiliate Programs. No way in hell I am going to blow something this good just for a little extra sleep!

I don’t condone working late hours, and as you have seen I have tried to get away from them. But one little quote always comes into my mind, “Money Never Sleeps”.

It’s funny because whether it’s a full time or part time affiliate, the successful ones I know work ridiculous hours per day. Unfortunately if you want to make a ton of money and have great success in the affiliate industry, you have to be willing to work a lot of hours.

But the beauty of this is that you can work mad hours and enjoy every second of it. Being a successful affiliate working 12 random hours a day is not like sitting in a cubicle dealing with corporate bullshit for that many hours. You get to surf websites, chat in forums, talk on messenger, and do actual work all at the same time.

Really, even if you work 60-80 hours a week, being an affiliate is one of the best jobs in the world. I think the reason we all do this and never even complain to ourselves about the hours is because we truly love what we do. There is nothing better at the end of the month than seeing great results, and realizing those results came from something you did while burning the midnight oil.

Unlike 90% of our friends, we are all in a unique situation. We really can create our own destiny and income. Not many people in the world can say this, most are stuck just dreaming about the type of opportunities we affiliates have. I bet if you went and told the typical “40 hour a week, $50k a year guy” that he could make $150K if he just doubled his hours…….99% of them would do it in a heart beat.

So when I say “Money Never Sleeps” I should really rephrase it to “Opportunity Never Sleeps”. There is a reason people in our industry work all hours of the day and night. It is because there is so much opportunity out there, and all you have to do is be willing to put in the time and effort.

With all that said, I am taking the weekend off, going to bed early, sleeping in, and playing with my kids all day Saturday and Sunday. My only hope for a better weekend would be if my wife breaks out the french maid outfit and serves me breakfast in bed followed by ……nevermind on both Saturday and Sunday.

Happy Friday! In true Jeremy Enke fashion, here is a sexy french maid picture to end the week with.

CakePoker Is Sending An Affiliate To The Playboy Mansion - I Love These Guys!!!

    Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

CakePoker Playboy Mansion PromotionFrom the very beginning of CakePoker.com, I have always really liked the room and the people running it. I remember speaking with Doug when they were first rolling it out. WOW, they have came a long way since then!

One of the smartest things Cake did when they launched is put together a kick ass and talented affiliate team. I have actually written about this before. Whether its players or affiliates though, Cake always operates in a first class fashion. This time though, they have raised the bar, and I love their most recent promotion! During a time in the industry when everyone is pissed off about a certain 60 day rule, Cakepoker saw this as an opportunity.

Their newest promotion can be seen in full detail here. But essentially they are giving affiliates 60% revenue share for their first 60 days. This is really great in itself, but then Cake has gone one step further for new affiliates. Ask any man what 10 things he wants to do before he dies is. A large percentage will have “Party at the Playboy Mansion” in their list.

To spice up the promo, Cake decided to give away a seat to a celebrity poker invitation and party at the Playboy Mansion. What I love about this promo is that all you have to do is send 5 players in a month to be eligible. Then all the qualifiers play in an online freeroll to win the trip. This makes it fair game for ALL the new affiliate and not just the guys that send hundreds of players by flipping a switch.

Usually I will not endorse anyone on this blog, nor will I post affiliate links (for poker sites). In this case though I will endorse CakePoker. Honestly, they are a great team of people to work with. I cannot see any reason not to have them in the mix of rooms you promote. They take U.S. players, and they convert and retain exceptionally better than many of the other options out there.

I encourage you ALL to sign up for the CakePoker affiliate program. And while you’re doing it, you mine as well get in on the fun of winning a trip to the Playboy Mansion! All the details are on this page on PAP.

The First Forum I Ever Ran And The Birth Of PartyRiches

    Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

I feel like telling a story today! I remember the first online forum I ever ran was a forum back in 2004/2005 for a penny stock I invested in. The penny stock was actually one of the most popular stocks on the pink sheet market at the time. I invested in this company because I thought the idea of PriseWise.com at the time was brilliant.

So of course being a noob and an idiot, I registered Prisewise.net and ran with it. Luckily for me I had a moderate position in the company (in penny stock terms) and the owners thought the forum was great. I even went out to Vegas to meet them.

The stock did well for a few months and actually went from .03 to .24 or something in a very short period. Myself, as well as many in the community were VERY happy. But as you can imagine, if you know anything about the OTCBB or the pink sheet market, all the PR’s and bullshit didn’t deliver. And the stock soon took a nose dive, eventually the whole thing unraveled.

It really sucked running a forum and seeing all the members including myself take a bath for thousands of dollars as well.

During the good times however I opened up a sister site that I promoted on Prizewise and bought paid ads for on other sites. PokerBulls was an ugly site, but in 2004/2005 it worked. I had tables set up at party named just for traders. It converted great at the time since poker was still just starting to boom. And people dumb enough to buy penny stocks were surely a good target for this new craze of online poker. :)

Once the stock tanked I realized the existing forum was going to die since it revolved around one small niche. Initially I had no intentions to build a poker affiliate forum. Instead I was going to open up a stock trading forum. But then after a little research I realized that the poker affiliate market had no affiliate forum. There were a few gambling affiliate forums (CAP,GPWA), but none just for poker.

So I wrote this ebook named PartyRiches about how to promote online poker. I also had a cheesy video made. The intention of this book was always to build a database from sales, and then open up a community forum. You have to realize, in 2004 & 2005 it was web 0.72…… no where close to 2.0. You didn’t need pretty sites or content to make money.

Anyhow, I finished the book once and it accidentally got erased from my hard drive. I was so pissed at that point that I almost went back to the stock forum idea. Luckily I re-wrote the thing and moved forward. The rest is pretty much history.

People often ask me for a copy of PartyRiches, and trust me it sucks. 3-4 years ago, sure it made sense for new poker affiliates. Now days though it would be worthless reading, especially because I used a lot of outdated examples and referenced older sites that are not online anymore. Anyhow that is the cliff not version of how the entire poker affiliate community I founded started.
