Getting Ready For 2008 CAC Amsterdam & New Blog Design
March 27th, 2008 by Jeremy EnkeThe week before a big conference is always somewhat busy. It seems like 100 people want to meet with me, and I want to meet with 100 different people. Anyone who knows me also knows I hate formal sit down chit chat meetings. The good news however is that every meeting I am scheduling or trying to schedule at CAC has a dollar sign attached to it.
I have been to enough of these things, and attend all the parties each night that it is really a waste to schedule a meeting, just to say “we had a meeting”. Any meetings I have scheduled should have a goal of me making money and the other party making money.
I don’t know what it is about Amsterdam though, but I can truly say it is one of my favorite cities in Europe. I’m sure it has nothing to do with the red light district, coffee shops, or live sex shows either. It’s probably just all the bicycles everywhere since I am an avid mountain biker. At least that’s the story I am sticking to.
Regarding Amsterdam, I’m not supposed to say anything yet, unless I could lose my position at Affiliate Programs Inc. But I heard a rumor that the bar directly in front of the Krasnopolsky will be occupied every day between 2:00 - 5:00 PM. Rumor has it that the bar staff and bar will be branded with PAP, CAP, Poker Conference stuff. I also heard that there will be shirts and pimped out PAP track jackets being given away.
This could be a great spot to relax and have some free drinks each day. Or an even better spot to schedule your meetings.
Also this blog design has gotten really boring and stale. The sitemap doesn’t work, it looks like shit in IE, the search feature is non existent, and generally there are several other things I just don’t like about it. Thank God I don’t depend on this blog to make any income. I’d be screwed.
Nonetheless it does get a fair amount of traffic, so I suppose I should do an overhaul. My friend Bryan Hauer does some pretty kick ass blog designs and is going to do this one. I just saw the mock up today and it looks really good. So don’t be alarmed in a few days when you show up here and see a new look.

I suppose an “About Me” page is where you would expect to read a third person professional write up on myself. Hmmm…. well that’s not really my style, so I’ll just go ahead and tell you “about me” in my own words.

One of these day in the next year I will make it to one of these damn things.. I’m so jealous every time I read about them..

Which one is better then, FLA or CA?? FLA is a bit closer to me I think
March 31st, 2008 at 1:56 pm
FLA is better IMO.

It;s a toss up then.. Hurricanes vs fires/earthquakes
March 31st, 2008 at 4:19 pm
Doubtful any of that will happen to any serious degree. FLA is a bit cheaper though.

Your sitemap problem is pretty simple to fix.
What you’ve done is point the XML stylesheet to “http://jeremyenke.com” (see the 2nd line of the source code of the sitemap). Your problem is that you have a RewriteRule either in an htaccess or in your conf that is rewriting your URL to include the WWW. So what you’ve done is actually make the stylesheet file inaccessible. Change that include a www and it will display correctly.
Second, I noticed that the last generated date was: January 16, 2008 6:11 pm. Since the XML Sitemaps plugin auto-generates a new sitemap, it’s just silly to not have it be updated. It’s in the plugin configuration in the WP backend to enable auto-generation and auto-notification for Google and other major search engines.
Also, you should update both your WP install (to the new 2.5) and your XML sitemap plugin.
Good luck with the new blog design. Feel free to email me if you have questions, I know a lot about WP at this point.

Hrmm, actually, upon further investigation, it appears that you don’t even have the sitemap stylesheet.
At least not where it’s supposed to be.
It should be here: http://www.jeremyenke.com/wp-content/plugins/google-sitemap-generator/sitemap.xsl
But nothing is there. When you go to that link, it should be something like: http://www.natarem.com/wp-content/plugins/google-sitemap-generator/sitemap.xsl.
I would just reinstall the plugin, something is obviously screwy. First deactivate it in the backend. Then delete it from the plugin directory. Then download the latest one, upload it and re-enable it. Obviously make sure that the sitemap.xml and sitemap.xml.gz files in the root dir are CHMOD’ed to 777 so WP can write to them once you turn on auto-generate.
