  • Going Back To Cali - Affiliate Speedpay - PAP - SMS - Poker Conference - Shaving

January 31st, 2008 by Jeremy Enke

Well, that’s one hell of a blog post title eh? Oh snap, I said eh! I guess I spent to much time with my Canadian friends last week! Anyhow, sometimes I wonder how he keep my head on straight when I am involved in so many different projects. I think throughout my business career however, I have thrived on having my hands into many different pots.

Being this busy requires a great deal of organization and daily planning, not too mention hours. I think the amount of actual hours in a day is really my biggest limitation. Thank-god for blackberries, planners, and especially the white board in my office. This combined with writing down my daily plan each day is how I stay organized.

Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffle HouseAnyhow I’ll share with you a few brief things that are going on in my professional life right now. Firstly, I am going back to California today for a few days. We have a meeting on Friday where we are laying out our long term goals. Although it sucks traveling so much over the past 2 weeks, I am really looking forward to this meeting. More important than meetings though, Greg and I are eating at Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffle House in Long Beach on Friday night.

Affiliate Speedpay - What a GREAT success this conference was for ASP. My entire goal with ASP is to raise the bar on professionalism for affiliates in our industry. Likewise I want there to be an industry standard so that we are not jumping through hoops with several different programs to get paid each month. We are currently in discussions with 40+ gaming companies including Party, 888, FullTilt, Cake, Everest, and a whole handful of others.

I will have a forum up dedicated to ASP in the next week where you can ask all the questions you have. Some people have complained about a (0.6%) $6 fee to withdrawal $1000 in cash from an ATM the same day we get paid………well….. ASP may not be for you, feel free to wait the 2 weeks to a month for your payment to be processed. Personally every big affiliate I know would pay the $6 all day long for this convenience.

PokerAffiliatePrograms.com (PAP) - It’s been exactly a month since the acquisition of the PAW forums took place. I have to say that I could not be more happy with the overall reception from the affiliates and industry. Some day I will write in more detail about the “why’s” of this deal. I am also extremely happy with the progress we have made in 30 short days. Working with Warren and Greg has been nothing short of amazing. You can expect big things from PAP over the next 12 months, as well as years to come. I finally feel like I found THE place I will finish my career at and retire with……in about 10 years :)

SMS Text Messaging Affiliate Program - As many of you know, I have been working on an affiliate program that involves being able to capitalize on the large market of SMS. There is no other affiliate program like this on the market, and it is already being well received by the poker affiliates I have shared it with. Although this is somewhat independent of PAP, we will be rolling it out through PAP with a special incentive to new affiliates who sign up through the PAP link. More to come on this next week. Very exciting though.

Poker Conference 2008 - This year we will be hosting a first ever “poker only” conference. Unlike CAP Euro, the conference will focus solely on poker affiliates and poker operators. Initially we were going to have this be a seperate venue but we realize there are many conferences already to choose from. So, we will be hosting this in conjunction with CAP Spring Break. The first two days will be the poker conference, the second two days will be the traditional Spring Break. Combining the two should be GREAT.  If you are an operator and interested in displaying, PLEASE contact us now as space is limited and the spots are already filling up.  There will be 2 tracks, one for affiliates, and one for operators. The venue for this will be somewhere on a warm island in the Eastern Mediterranean sea. :)

Shaving - Courtesy of the Chicago Bears, this Superbowl Sunday I will be getting my head shaved balled because I am a terrible gambler and prop better. I will be sure to video tape this and post to youtube.

      Hey Jeremy,

I think some of the complaints about fees came about because people thought it was 6%, not 0.6%. I mentioned this to the ASP guy at CAP Euro. Maybe you guys need to get that out there a little more to all the complainers. ;)

    2. Dan Strohl Says:

      Hey Jeremy,

Nice post here… I really look forward to hearing more about this Poker Conference you are organizing. We always go to the CAP’s and CAC’s and this should be great as well.

Also, nice work on the Affiliate Speedpay. Definitely the hottest girls I’ve seen at a conference to date!

      Sincerely,

      Dan Strohl

All exciting projects indeed. Do you work on all these every day, or choose certain days to work on certain projects?

    4. Aidan Says:

Yeah, there should be absolutely no complaining about a $6 fee on a $1,000 transaction! I can’t believe people even said that! Good job on getting several major rooms on board :)

    5. Aidan Says:

I can see a ton of potential coming from the text messaging idea. This is one of those things where I say, ” I wish I thought of that”

Although I hope you do not have any issues with freeroll code sharing. Without making it a hassle for these players to participate in the tournament.

Also do you think you will run into any issues with minors joining the freerolls?

Will there be any issues with players in different countries?

Look forward to trying the text messaging tournaments!

    6. Greg Says:

After a day of meetings it will be nice to kick back in the LBC and get down on some chick’n waffles. I’ll bring you a beer when you land.

    7. Jonathan Says:

I am really looking forward to ASP, and I don’t mean after school program. There is a lot of buzz going on right now in this industry… Keep it up!

    8. Big Fish Poker Club Says:

The problem with the fees is…

Most bank machines (80% of bank machines here in Canada for example) don’t allow $1000 in one transaction (some are $500, most are $800). Also, there are additional fees that bank machines charge separately. So it can be more like $10 for $1000 or less.

Also, the swift out commission fee is confusing…is it $8 for a wire out?…$13 for a wire out? or up to $83 for a wire out??…it should be a $8 or $10 flat charge.

Jut my opinions…even though I still believe that we shouldn’t have to PAY to receive a PAYCHEQUE that we earned overall.

    9. Big Fish Poker Club Says:

Also, a suggestion for ASP is…

      1. There should be a cash out feature via cheque from our ASP account.

      2. We should earn 3% interest for holding our $ in the account for 1 month +.

    10. Big Fish Poker Club Says:

Also, maybe there should be a discount for affiliates who transact a certain amount of $$ with ASP. Like a gold card idea with less fees and some perks.

    11. Celine Says:

You are so busy…Cannot imagine how to take care such a lot of business…But, as long as those are good to extend the business, than I think not a big problem.

    12. kaus Says:

I don’t mind the fee, considering what I lose with paypal its not that bad, considering I just lost $58 for one $1500 transaction in my paypal account its not all that bad. Plus for me to cash a checque from anyone of these companies I will have to wait what 2-3 weeks to see the cheque than my bank will hold all US and international cheques for 30 days with no exceptions, so I am waiting 6 weeks before I see anything.

    13. Kendall Says:

Sounds great about the poker conference. Spring Break could be my first attended CAP event so that would be very cool.

    14. Giorgio Says:

Sorry J, I have to disappoint you. Entrepreneurs never retire.

So PAP/CAP spring break will be in Europe, great news! I will put it on my agenda and let’s see if you can out drink the Dutch ;)

      Peace,

      Giorgio

    15. Big Fish Poker Club Blog Says:

Any updates on whether there will be a cheque request feature as part of ASP?

    16. holyman Says:

A check feature would be nice too.. I just don’t understand why we have to convince all the AM’s of the need for this..

    17. play online poker Says:

Perhaps one time you could have one of these PAP conferences on a cruise ship?

    18. checkingout Says:

On a cruise ship would be quite sick. Even in a place like Atlantic City (I heard good things about it) would be interesting but I guess that would rule some people out.

    19. holyman Says:

Having a US conference would be even better.. There shouldn’t be any legal issues, and I;d say there might be more US affiliates than EU, etc..

    20. checkingout Says:

Be interesting to see where most affiliates are or how many have left the business over the changes.

    21. holyman Says:

what changes?? that was 2 years ago really??

    22. checkingout Says:

No, It wasnt two years ago.

    23. checkingout Says:

And most of the changes (non-affiliate stuff really) can be found here: http://www.pokerplayersalliance.org/.

There is a big meeting on Wednesday.
