Monday Morning Motivational Message - Learning From Others
January 14th, 2008 by Jeremy EnkeThis morning I was sitting here drinking my coffee and contemplating what to write about. I started thinking about who some of my biggest motivators have been over the years, and also about those I have learned from.
Many people in our business want to be lone rangers and try to master everything on their own. Although in theory it would be great to know everything there is to know about our business, it just isn’t practical. One of the most important principals in any business is to “surround yourself with successful people”. I have written about this before, but I cannot stress the importance of it.
If it weren’t for the people I have surrounded myself with in life, I would not have achieved the success I have to this point.
And you don’t necessarily have to befriend several successful people. You can learn from others successes by reading blogs, books, or just doing simple research on the internet. Since this blog topic is that of motivation, I want to share one of the blogs I regularly read that motivates me. This would be Mark Cubans personal blog. Sure, the guy is a billionaire which is great. But he was not born into it. He started out in computers and IT busting his ass just like many of us.
Below is a link to his success and motivation posts over the past few years. Contained in these posts are some real gems. This is kind of a lengthy read, but well worth it. There is no better way to start a week than by reading Mark Cubans story. If these posts don’t motivate you, I don’t know what will.

I suppose an “About Me” page is where you would expect to read a third person professional write up on myself. Hmmm…. well that’s not really my style, so I’ll just go ahead and tell you “about me” in my own words.

Cuban’s blog is great…I read it all the time. Who else have you learned the most from?
January 14th, 2008 at 8:46 am
Like the learning from others line… read somewhere that good business people learn from their mistakes and move on… excellent business people learn from the mistakes of others so they don’t make them (forget the exact words but that was the message).
warrior forum is a great learning resource IMO - some real gems in among the latest get rich quick fads…. second only to PAW / PAP!!
Cheers, Mark

The other day I stumbled onto Cuban’s site and read his greatest posts and they really were excellent.

Thanks for the link to Cubans blog. I will definitely have to start reading it.
Surrounding yourself around the right people is so important in all aspects of life. From elementary to high school to college and so on. This is a tough thing to learn at a young age. Definitely something I will try and teach my kids if there is ever an accident.
Thanks for keeping this blog up and current. Its well worth the reads.

I came across those posts a week ago while sifting through people’s blogrolls and loved it. It’s nice to read how people struggled and what they had to overcome to get where they are….maybe one day you could post one about yourself, besides the few posts of PartyRiches I am sure alot of us who are still “new” would be intrested in seeing where you started before Party Riches
January 14th, 2008 at 9:13 pm
My life was pretty boring before PartyRiches. I worked as a frefighter/emt followed by pharmaceutical sales and real estate.
It’s actually kind of interesting though how I transitioned. Maybe I will make a post about my beginning as an affiliate. It certainly was not with online poker, although I wish it was.

Was it Pornstarbucks?
January 14th, 2008 at 10:12 pm
I think you meant to post that in the “Ask Me Anything Post” Graham.
Although I could probably draw “some kind” of motivation from this affiliate program.
January 14th, 2008 at 10:22 pm
LOL… I was referring to your beginning as an affiliate… it was either that or Viagara is my guess
January 14th, 2008 at 10:29 pm
LOl, you’re close. It was actually this product. I had a nice little ebay business going until the market got saturated.

January 14th, 2008 at 11:06 pm

January 15th, 2008 at 11:18 am
I don’t Melissa was a money making venture. I think J just wanted a way to get some free porn.
January 15th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
lol, fair enough. It was funny when I was trying to find her name, I googled a few terms and PAP came up and there was a few posts about her.
January 15th, 2008 at 10:31 pm
LOL…are u looking for membership info?
January 15th, 2008 at 10:37 pm
If you’ll follow my poker affiliate link, I can get you a free membership to MelissaMidwest.com…. This is no shit, I actually worked out a deal with her for this in 2006.
I also had to play as “Melissa Midwest” one night on Mansion Poker while we were doing a promo. Seriously, there are some freaks out there. I have never been so uncomfortable at a poker table in my life.
I can see this comment log on my Monday Morning Motivational post has gone to porn discussions. I truly can’t express how proud I am right now. LOL

LOL, Pow porn discussion. Hopefully your mother doest read the comments.
Wow playing as Melissa Midwest. Thats pretty sick. Were you required to participate in the chat? You should have taken a few screen shots of that one!

LOL, well I can see how my original post was a bit misleading. I was actually looking for the name for one of my comments. But once the GF goes to bed, I might have to check out the free membership lol.

January 18th, 2008 at 12:54 am

January 20th, 2008 at 10:25 pm
LOL…nooooooooooooooooo
January 20th, 2008 at 11:48 pm
haha, well at least our girlfriends don’t read this blog/comments Graham. Poor JE.

Maybe by surrounding ourself with successful people, we can learn directly from them about their life principles. Sometimes, it is easier for us to memorize what we see than what we read. Although, I also believe that reading is one of the keys to success…
