Going Back To Cali - Affiliate Speedpay - PAP - SMS - Poker Conference - Shaving

    Thursday, January 31st, 2008

Well, that’s one hell of a blog post title eh? Oh snap, I said eh! I guess I spent to much time with my Canadian friends last week! Anyhow, sometimes I wonder how he keep my head on straight when I am involved in so many different projects. I think throughout my business career however, I have thrived on having my hands into many different pots.

Being this busy requires a great deal of organization and daily planning, not too mention hours. I think the amount of actual hours in a day is really my biggest limitation. Thank-god for blackberries, planners, and especially the white board in my office. This combined with writing down my daily plan each day is how I stay organized.

Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffle HouseAnyhow I’ll share with you a few brief things that are going on in my professional life right now. Firstly, I am going back to California today for a few days. We have a meeting on Friday where we are laying out our long term goals. Although it sucks traveling so much over the past 2 weeks, I am really looking forward to this meeting. More important than meetings though, Greg and I are eating at Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffle House in Long Beach on Friday night.

Affiliate Speedpay - What a GREAT success this conference was for ASP. My entire goal with ASP is to raise the bar on professionalism for affiliates in our industry. Likewise I want there to be an industry standard so that we are not jumping through hoops with several different programs to get paid each month. We are currently in discussions with 40+ gaming companies including Party, 888, FullTilt, Cake, Everest, and a whole handful of others.

I will have a forum up dedicated to ASP in the next week where you can ask all the questions you have. Some people have complained about a (0.6%) $6 fee to withdrawal $1000 in cash from an ATM the same day we get paid………well….. ASP may not be for you, feel free to wait the 2 weeks to a month for your payment to be processed. Personally every big affiliate I know would pay the $6 all day long for this convenience.

PokerAffiliatePrograms.com (PAP) - It’s been exactly a month since the acquisition of the PAW forums took place. I have to say that I could not be more happy with the overall reception from the affiliates and industry. Some day I will write in more detail about the “why’s” of this deal. I am also extremely happy with the progress we have made in 30 short days. Working with Warren and Greg has been nothing short of amazing. You can expect big things from PAP over the next 12 months, as well as years to come. I finally feel like I found THE place I will finish my career at and retire with……in about 10 years :)

SMS Text Messaging Affiliate Program - As many of you know, I have been working on an affiliate program that involves being able to capitalize on the large market of SMS. There is no other affiliate program like this on the market, and it is already being well received by the poker affiliates I have shared it with. Although this is somewhat independent of PAP, we will be rolling it out through PAP with a special incentive to new affiliates who sign up through the PAP link. More to come on this next week. Very exciting though.

Poker Conference 2008 - This year we will be hosting a first ever “poker only” conference. Unlike CAP Euro, the conference will focus solely on poker affiliates and poker operators. Initially we were going to have this be a seperate venue but we realize there are many conferences already to choose from. So, we will be hosting this in conjunction with CAP Spring Break. The first two days will be the poker conference, the second two days will be the traditional Spring Break. Combining the two should be GREAT.  If you are an operator and interested in displaying, PLEASE contact us now as space is limited and the spots are already filling up.  There will be 2 tracks, one for affiliates, and one for operators. The venue for this will be somewhere on a warm island in the Eastern Mediterranean sea. :)

Shaving - Courtesy of the Chicago Bears, this Superbowl Sunday I will be getting my head shaved balled because I am a terrible gambler and prop better. I will be sure to video tape this and post to youtube.

Building Wealth Versus Collecting A Paycheck - The Millionaire Mentality

    Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

Do you have first class dreams, but each day with your mind is flying through life in coach? The picture onMy Future Private Jet the right is how I plan on flying in 10 years. I have confidence that this is possible, however being able to fly in private jets is not just something that is a natural progression in business. It’s going to take a lot of hard work, and the right mindset.

One of the things I love about attending industry events is that it is a chance for me to spend time with other entrepreneurs and like minded people. With the exception of a few individuals like my best friend Karl for example, many of the people I know outside the industry work the 9-5 on a set income.

Trust me, there is nothing wrong with this. In fact I imagine the security of a steady 2 week paycheck and no gray areas is quite nice. However that is not, and will never be me.

If you are an entrepreneur, and someone who has the goal one day being a millionaire, there are a few principles you must always practice.

    1. Build Wealth Versus Collecting A Paycheck - Unless you get really lucky, you will never just “become” a millionaire. Everything you do in business including your daily work ethic has to be done with this end goal in mind. Likewise even though times may be tight right now, at some point you will need to start actually building wealth and not just collecting a shitty check. Even if it means socking away only $100 a month into an IRA or savings account. Get your mind programmed to “Build Wealth”.

Or for example, if you sell links on your site for incremental income; take this money and put it all aside to invest in a bigger internet property. Building wealth does not just have to be about actual cash in the bank. It’s about growing your business mindset and finding new sources of residual income. If you truly want to be a millionaire, at some point you will need to not really care when you get paid next. You will need to not live paycheck to paycheck. And most importantly you will need to spend your disposable income on things that will return you more money. Your money needs to make you money.

    2. The Millionaire Mentality - This is very important as well. Everyone wants to have millions of dollars, right? But how many people are willing to take the risks and actually work at it. The mentality of every self made millionaire I know is one of which they were willing to do anything and everything it took to get to that point. To be a millionaire, you have to possess a work ethic that is better than 99% of the rest of the lazy fu*** we all know.

I will be the first to say that I have been fortunate in my career and I have seen a great deal of success. But at the same time, I have worked more hours in the past 5 years than most people will work in 10 years. I have also assumed huge risks that would send some people into a nervous breakdown.

I wanted to write this post because last week at CAP Euro I saw a lot of young guys who should be the future ballers in our industry. I WISH I could go back to my early 20’s and get into internet marketing. If you are in this lucky period of your life, embrace it and start thinking about building wealth NOW. Get that millionaire mentality immediately. We all know living and working each day just for that shitty check every other Friday sucks.

If you don’t like it, change it. And remember, Money Never Sleeps.

    CAP Euro 2008 – A Smashing Success

    Monday, January 28th, 2008

First and foremost I apologize for not updating the blog here or at PAP over the last few days. I had full intentions of blogging each day, however the internet at the Hilton Olympia was completely out.

Personally I can say that this was the most successful and productive gaming convention I have ever attended. It amazes me that throughout all the gray areas and issues we have faced over the past 18 months, this industry just keeps getting better and better.

I could probably write a 10 page blog post about the entire event; however I’ll try to just highlight the key points. As expected there were some great speaker sessions. I sat on the panel for the super affiliate lecture, and we had some great discussions about SEO, rakeback, the absolute poker conundrum, and CPA vs. MGR. I always feel honored and enjoy sitting on these panels, but at times I think there are many other PAP members who would do just as well. My goal for the upcoming conferences is to get some fresh faces on these

Overall the quality of the speakers at these events keeps getting better and better. The actual venue for the expo and ASOP was also one the better ones in my opinion. I’m sure most of you reading this however want to hear about the debauchery and parties and NOT my boring perspectives on business.

Taxi’s – This makes the 4th country I’ve been to in 12 months and gotten scammed in a taxi. On a global scale, the taxi industry has got to be the most crooked shit I have ever seen. We got scammed by some Nigerian taxi drivers when we wanted to find a gentleman’s club, imagine that! In London though, even when you’re not getting scammed, the cost of taxi’s is obscene. A 20 minute ride can easily cost you $100 USD.

The PAP dinner at Gaucho’s was awesome. I think there were around 15 of us. Nice job to Graham for setting this all up. Our total bill was around $3500 USD…… (That’s how PAP members roll)

The inaugural CAP Awards were absolutely phenomenal. Although the nomination process needs to be refined, I can see this event becoming like the Grammy Awards of our industry. Kudos to Alex Pratt and the entire team on making this a success. Alex also arranged for topless women covered in gold paint to be at the event……..I had a great picture of me with them, but dropped it down the elevator shaft at 6:00 AM. (Don’t ask)

All the other parties were first class, as would be expected at any CAP event. Attending these parties really makes you realize how much cash there is, and how many certified ballers there are in our business.

The best party however was when a certain person who shall remain nameless called his Centurion representative (exclusive to Amex black card holders)and said the following. “I need a private table with bottle service at whatever the best club in London is in the next 30 minutes.” 30 minutes later we are at a club that has an $80 cover charge and being greeted by a beautiful hostess that was dedicated to our group the entire night. Our table was in the middle of the dance floor, and there was no shortage of chilled bottles of gray goose. I won’t dare share the price tag of that evening, but if you want to know how the rich and famous party, this was it.

I could go on and on but this blog post is already too long. If any of you guys who attended want to write a post on your personal blogs, or even here about the event, shoot me over an email and I’ll give you some link love or publish it for you. Likewise if you have any questions or comments about CAP Euro, just post them below. Here is a video from betastic.co.uk.

A Busy Few Days Ahead - What NOT to forget!

    Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

I am sitting my hotel getting ready for the rest of the CAP team to pick me up. We got a limo to bring us from Irvine to LAX, so at least I won’t have to cab it or ride in a shitty hotel shuttle into L.A. The next 12 hours is probably going to suck though. We take-off here at 8:40 and arrive in London 8-9 hours later and it will be around 3:00 in the afternoon. Going to Europe always makes you jet lagged. So if Greg or I look tired as can be at the PAP dinner, this is why.

It probably doesn’t help that either that in business class the drinks are free all night! Knowing Greg and I though, some of our greatest ideas for 2008 could transpire on this flight over cheap airline booze and lack of sleep!

Okay here’s the Jeremy Enke last minute check list before we disembark:

    1. The Affiliate Speedpay Booth - Rememebr the PAW booth at Barcelona (enough said)

    2. The ASOP Diamond Bracelet - If I forget this, there’s a good chance my responsibility of running all the poker operations for PAP/CAP will be dissolved. I’d be the new company janitor.

    3. Daily Schedule - Multiple copies!! I tend to lose things at these events. Losing my daily schedule or phone where I have it digitally would be really, really bad.

    4. Business Cards - I forgot these once and it was awful. I will never forget business cards again.

    4. Ear Plugs - I am sharing a room with Greg, and his wife warned me that he snores like an elephant on life support.

    5. Tylenol, Tums - <——– Obviously

    6. Sweat Sedo - You can never be too prepared!

So there you have it. That’s my last minute list. Barring an ice cold crash into the Atlantic, we should be in London around 3:00 P.M.
