  • Ron Paul Is Good For Poker Affiliates & My New Office

October 31st, 2007 by Jeremy Enke

Normally I hate talking about politics, but my good friend has sold me on voting Ron Paul in 2008. I used to be very much into politics up until around 4 years ago. Lately however I am thoroughly convinced that all politicians, both Republican and Democrat are crooks.

I am not going to lie, I used to vote republican. Primarily because I hate the fact that the harder I work, the more taxes I pay. In the U.S. it’s like you get punished for being successful.

Why should I pay a higher tax rate because I went to college, got a degree, became an entrepreneur, and made something out of my life? But the people in the U.S. that can’t hold a job or want to mooch off the welfare system get all kinds of handouts and pay a lower tax %. Hell, don’t even get me started on immigration. Maybe I should revoke mine and my daughters U.S. citizenship. This way when they want to go to college someday, they will get all kinds of scholarships and free handouts.

Regardless of all this, U.S. politics are totally fuct right now. The more I travel around the world, I am starting to see how the United States is the laughing stock of the world. Looking at Ron Paul’s views, he seems like the only candidate that is not politicking. When you listen to him speak, you basically get the feeling that he also thinks the current U.S. government is a joke. As a poker affiliate, it also nice that Ron Paul is against the UIGEA.

Now onto more exciting things. Last year my wife and I bought a new house and I have a great home office set-up. Yesterday I bought some new furniture and spent an entire afternoon putting it together. What a pain! Here is the final set-up though. One of these days I’ll do a “JE Cribs” post in the blog with more pics. Below is where it all happens though.

That chair looks pretty comfortable. Where did you get that?

    3. Barry Broom Says:

Darn - did we grow up together or something because that’s the exact logic I use when I think about taxes and handouts. Damn spooky. Oh yeah the office looks great!

    4. Aidan Says:

      Hey,

Killer set up man! Is that an HP monitor?

    5. Jeremy Enke Says:

Thanks Aiden, Yes it is an HP. I love that monitor. I bought the chair at Office Depot about a year and a half ago.

Two things in life that you should never feel guilty about spending a ton of money on.

      1. your bed
      2. your office chair.

    6. Greg Powell Says:

I like those HP monitors as well man. We just switched out the 20′ monitor for 2 19′ monitors so we can run some dual action. One so I can work and one so I can watch my Celtics news..

    7. Aidan Says:

It must be the HPf2105. Thats the same monitor I have and its great!

    8. Graham Says:

Nice setup Jeremy. What size is the monitor? You should have another blog post where you do a tour of the whole house in real cribs fashion.

I definitely agree with your comment about spending more on a bed, I had never thought about the office chair thing, but now that you mention it, that is a really good point. Time to go shopping again!

    9. Jeremy Enke Says:

The monitor is an HP f2105, I believe it’s 21″. I still do alot of work on one of the laptops though…..not sure why.

I will do a “cribs” special blog post coming up in the next few posts. If not with video, pictures for sure.

Only thing you need now is a wall mount big screen HDTV.

    12. Graham Says:

Wow… I thought the monitor was at least a 24″. I looks way bigger in the pic.

And I definitely agree about the big screen TV comment.

    13. US Poker Freerolls Says:

I am very very liberal. My husband, tight republican, Ron Paul is the first thing even remotely related to politics the two of us have agreed on in literally years.

We’re both pro life, and since I am a gambler, and a gambling promoter/writer, he is pretty pro gambling. Add Ron Paul, and that’s the end of what we agree on.

      Go Ron Paul!

    14. holyman Says:

I wish I have more chances to see or listen to Ron Paul… Right now I hate most all of them… I keep thinking that one day someone different will come along..

I guess Ron Paul is better than the rest though.. At least he understands the industry a little..

      Oh yeah, nice chair man.

    15. Frank Says:

In your opinion, what are the risks of being a poker affiliate after the UIGEA?

    16. holyman Says:

Sad to see what choices we have left now in the election..

    17. checkingout Says:

Unfortunately poker is not a “hot” issue right now across the country, well not hot enough yet anyway.
