Operation Turkey Fry At The Enke House
October 29th, 2007 by Jeremy EnkeBefore we get into Operation Turkey Fry at the Enke house, let’s talk about the good, the bad, and the ugly. A long weekend it was indeed. Not only did the Chicago Bears get destroyed by the Lions, my fantasy team also lost. Damn I hate bye weeks in fantasy, a few of my studs being off killed me.
As if this was not bad enough, I always bet a parlay bet on the NFL each week with my neighbors and good friends John and Jay. We each put in $20 and discuss our picks over Sunday morning coffee in the front yard…… (I promise I am only 31 years old.) Although I realize this does make me sound like an old man. Anyhow, we missed our 5 game parlay and $1439 payout by one f***** game. Like dumb asses, we bet Washington to cover the Patriots….. oops.
One last piece of advice to the gentleman out there. If you decide to promise your wife to get up with the kids on Saturday morning, you should not stay out on Friday night until 3:00 AM drinking Johnny Walker Blue. And if you do something stupid like this, by all means actually get up with the kids. I did all this but made one fatal mistake. When I got up with the kids at 7:00 AM I thought it would be a good idea to fall back asleep on the couch……… Oops, I forgot I was supposed to feed the kids breakfast and actually “take care of them”. Needless to say, when my wife came downstairs and I was sleeping on the couch, she was far from impressed.
But now on to the good. This weekend I deep fried my first turkey. My buddy Karl was telling me how good it was a few weeks ago and I just had to see for myself. <————Keep in mind Karl is the guy I go to Nascar with and occasionally drink at local bars with. A turkey fryer very well may be their standard mode of cooking at his house.
Anyhow I went to Gander Mountain and bought all the supplies. I even bought an injector and some garlic butter marinade. I prepped everything the night before and bought the biggest turkey I could find. To make a long story short, and I know this is very unlike me. If you have never deep fried a turkey, do it. This was probably the best turkey I have ever eaten. Forget all the rumors you hear about it being dangerous. If you do it outside and follow instructions, it is actually very easy and not that unsafe.
Here are the instructions I followed. Operation Turkey Fry.
So go buy yourself all the equiptment and you too can be a superstar at this years Thanksgiving dinner. Trust me, it will be the best turkey you will ever eat.

I suppose an “About Me” page is where you would expect to read a third person professional write up on myself. Hmmm…. well that’s not really my style, so I’ll just go ahead and tell you “about me” in my own words.

We deep fry a Turkey for the home opener of the Bills every year.
So crispy outside, so juicy inside.

I had that for the first time this thanksgiving and it was really good. Never heard of anyone doing that until this year.
