  • Big Decisions To Make Regarding The AbsolutePoker Scandal (Super User Account)

October 16th, 2007 by Jeremy Enke

What a heck of a day in the industry. I am not going to go into all the developments surrounding the Absolute Poker scandal here. If you are reading this blog, the odds are you are an affiliate or someone who already knows a fair amount about it.

But since this is my personal blog, I will say that the whole situation puts me in a really bad spot. I have seen the other forums where members are calling for the owners to remove AP & UB from the site all together. To be honest I have just been waiting for the post to show up on PAW.

Instead of reprinting it here, this is my post at paw where I answered an affiliate who basically says PAW is a lap dog of AP.

I have talked to the guys at PokerNews as well as some of the other big sites. Everyone has a hell of decision to make right now. There is no doubt that even the big affiliates know something shady went down. But here is some insider info into the super poker affiliate mindsets. From the guys I have spoken with today, they are waiting to see what the next official statement from AP is going to be regarding the allegations. Will they deny it again, or will they come out and admit to shenanigans? They’re next statement is actually very important to what affiliates will do.

In my opinion, if they are guilty, they should come out and admit it. Fire the CEO, have charges filed against him, and refund the money to players accounts that played on any table associated with the super user account 363. Even if this costs them $500K, it will be worth it for them in the long run. Likewise it may help the poker community see that they are taking action. Ahhh hell, this might not even help at this point though, they’re probably fucked. I’m just trying to be positive as always. Regardless, I understand they are supposed to be making a statement soon. This should be interesting.

That’s all I really have to say about the whole thing right now. I still haven’t made a decision on what to do with PAW. The feedback from affiliates is very important to me though. You can either comment here, email me, or PM me.

On a side note, if I were smart I would just redirect this whole blog to a landing page welcoming ex Absolute players. It ranks #1 in google for almost every search you can think of that deals with “Absolute Poker Superuser Account” or “Absolute Poker is Rigged”. I’m such a donkey

      Wow…what to do?

I think it is WAIT AND SEE from here. I think TIME solves all problems, it is just a matter of how much patience everyone has.

      I know I don’t often have patience, but…

You almost have to in this industry!

Know of any other good no download poker rooms that takes USA players???

Very sad Absolute Poker… very sad.

Yes, i think we will have to wait and see. Dont think its fair to demand that Jeremy has to take down AP in the heat of the moment. Everyone promoting AP through PAW is free to take down their links, and i doubt many new affiliates will create AP trackers in a couple of weeks anyway.

    4. Graham Says:

I agree about waiting for their next statement, but how long should we wait?

I plan to remove all AP stuff for now because 1) I never promoted them - just never thought much of their site 2) Chipleader has annoyed me lately 3) I don’t think they have handled this situation very well so far and their obv is some shady stuff going on.

As soon as reports started flying around AP should have stepped in. Thier recent statement should have been immediate, and they should have learned this from the previous claims. Fine they dont know anything but the statement basically says that anyway so why wait and hold out on people. Allowing threads and people to continue to speculate without speaking up looks bad.

My personal opinon - each affiliate is taken care of by PAW, whether they choose to promote all rooms or not. Removing AP without clear certainty as to what has happened is drawing a line between the affiliate who agrees and those who dont and want to continue to promote them for whatever thier reason may be.

Even if one affiliate wants to continue to push them than PAW would need to respect that as should the rest of the community. I think it has to be a personal choice unless the allegations are proven to be fact. Than I think the affiliates should move over to the AP program and give period of time to have everything sorted out

I wonder if anything conclusive is going to come of this - I keep hearing rumours about this being staged and just don’t know what to believe!

This is the 2nd worse thing to happen to online poker.
      #1 was the UIGEA.

    8. Mark McAndrew Says:

So much opinion, so little knowledge… AP HAS ADMITTED THE FRAUD. Not that they had a choice, thanks to the sterling detective work by the folks at 2+2 forums.

And ‘Mr I’m a programmer and it’s not possible’ (in the other thread) is therefore a lying SOB - but perhaps his name being a link to AbsolutePokerReferralCode.com shows why. ‘Rumours it’s staged’ he says now? LOL! He wishes!

What we wait for now are the gory details, although most has already been uncovered on the 2+2 poker forums.

It was, indeed, the worst form of cheating ever seen in the world of online poker - the top level of management defrauding the customers personally.

The account (#363 - so it was probably created during the set-up of AP) did indeed have so-called ’super-user’ status, in that it could see all the hole cards. It probably couldn’t play though, so that user (the boss of the frigging company!) observed tables and relayed the info to one or more accomplices, including the 2nd-in-command.

It doesn’t get any worse than this, cheating-wise.

      BTW, how’s humble pie, Jeremy?

I think you are overreacting. Its not as bad as it seems. These things unfortunately happen, whether it be online or offline there will always be people out there trying to screw you out of your money. Some will get affected, but life goes on.
