Building Wealth Through Multiple Streams of Income

    Monday, September 10th, 2007

Everyone Needs A Money TreeMany of the richest people I know are not rich from just one simple business or venture. In fact very few are. Also before I get to much further into this, I think we should look at the definition of rich versus wealthy. In my opinion, these are two totally different things.

Being Rich - A rich person is someone who at the current time has several possessions and a solid income. There are millions of people that are rich, yet in the course of 1 year or even a few weeks, the rich person can literally become poor. Take for example a high limit online poker player or even a day trader. It’s very easy to be rich one day and poor the next.

Being Wealthy - This is where it’s at. A wealthy individual may or may not have tons of flashy possessions. Perhaps they do not even have massive income anymore. What all wealthy people have however is long term financial stability. Having the wealthy mindset is very different than that of a rich one. A common trait I have seen in almost every wealthy person I know is that they all have or at one time had multiple streams of income.

Having multiple streams of income is how business people go from simply being rich to building wealth and security. As affiliates in the online gaming industry, having multiple streams of income is especially important. If I had not built several income sources over the past few years, I would have been what I like to call “Fuct” after the UIGEA. Having multiple sources of income is just another way to be diversified in your affiliate business.

So when is the time to start building your multiple streams of income?  How about RIGHT NOW!

When thinking about this as well, you should also think of creating revenue streams that have absolutely nothing to do with online gaming or affiliate programs. The key however is to create revenue streams that you can leverage your existing skills in. One example of how I created an alternative revenue source besides affiliate marketing was when I was actively selling real estate. In fact this site was my real estate website. Because I was moderately savvy at SEO I was able to generate almost 100% of my leads from the website. I would get new clients from people searching various keywords that were pertinent to my area.

And then to make it even easier for myself I would usually just refer the leads on to another agent and keep the refferal commission. I barely did any work, but I was able to generate a fair amount of income in a different industry just using the tools and skills I learned as an affiliate. Furthermore every “baller” millionaire I have ever met or read about usually has some sort of real estate interest.

Another benefit of having multiple streams of income is that you can constantly change your focus and give more effort to the revenue streams that are performing best for you at the time. Nothing is better than receiving several payments each month from various business ventures. Undoubtedly many of an entrepreneurs new projects or experiments will fail or produce negative ROI. If your diversified and have these multiple sources of income however your business should be able to absorb the losses on the smaller projects.

SEOAs an affiliate marketer, the easiest way to create multiple streams of income is to utilize your existing skills and promote within several online industries. Especially if you have had success in the online gaming market, many of the other industries will be very easy for you. Being a poker affiliate, it easy to just dig your heels into gaming and nothing else. This is because the commissions we make are so much bigger than almost any other industry. And in fact just being a poker affiliate can make you very rich. However unless your one of the top 10 poker affiliates in the world, you will probably need to have other sources of income to build enormous wealth.

Having multiple streams of income is even more important if you are or are thinking of doing internet marketing as a fulltime profession. One small change in a google algorithm could cost an affiliate marketer thousands of dollars. The last thing you want to happen is something like the UIGIEA or a drop in search engine rankings, and be left wondering how you are going to pay your bills.

Those are my words of wisdom for Monday, make it a great week!

Here is a good article by Justin Goff about having the right mindset to become wealthy.

Becoming a Super Affiliate versus Failing

    Thursday, September 6th, 2007

There are actually several reasons why some people fail and others rise to the top, but let’s just look at a few of them.

One of the things that really pisses me off is when friends or family will see what I have built for myself and say, “You are lucky” or “Man, you have always been in the right place at the right time”. I wouldn’t call working countless hours for years, or assuming financial risks that would give most people a coronary “luck”. I have always been very strong willed and try not to let myself get complacent in my financial goals. Likwise I have always been a hustler.

Often times I hear people talking about how they hate their jobs or can’t stand something in their life…… well here’s a solution……CHANGE IT! If you don’t like working in a cubicle making $45K a year, then do something about it.

Failure - Any super affiliate you ask will tell you that they have had more failures than they have had successes throughout their affiliate career. Most are not bullshitting you. Expect to fail, expect to lose money, and expect to do some really dumb shit your first year. The difference however with successful affiliates is that they are not afraid to fail and actually expect it most of the time. I have seen so many new affiliates come into the industry, and after experiencing one failure or one site that was a dud just vanish.

Expectancy - Now, let’s talk about the term expectancy. You should expect good things to happen in your affiliate business, versus simply “hoping” good things will happen. If you remember one thing from this blog post, remember this; You can only rise to the level of your expectations. Fuck, with that said, why not expect to be at the right place at the right time, expect doors to open, expect good things to transpire in your business and personal life. How many people in the world sit and day dream about what it would be like to make the big magic number per year……wait…….hear we go…… SIX FIGURES!!!! Like it’s rocket science. In this day and age making $100K a year is pretty damn easy. Regardless of what figure you want to make, you need to raise your level of expectancy. If you are working a $40K a year job and “hoping” for a promotion making $50K….bad news…….sorry dude, you’re not going to make $100K any time soon.

Vision - Although everyone will claim to have a vision of how they see their business going, how much money they want to make, or what goals they have; how many people have a constant reminder? A vision is not the same as day dreaming. Hell I could daydream all day about strippers working in my office, massaging my back, and serving me bottles of Cristal …..but that will never come true. However my vision will. In fact in my office on the wall behind my monitor I have a piece of paper with a $ figure written on it. This is how much I want to be making per month in the next 6 months. All day long I am forced to see it and it makes me work harder and smarter towards my goal. Everyone should also have their goals written down, or some sort of constant reminder of what they are working towards.  Write yourself a 30-day webmaster goal and stick to it!

Laziness - I had to include this in here because I cannot even begin to describe how lazy many people in the affiliate business are. I mean it is borderline ridiculous. Most of being successful in this business is simply just doing the work and putting in the hours. I see so many people put up sites or blogs and then never do any work on them. Mind you we all deserve a few lazy days, but laziness runs rampant in the affiliate industry. Especially with poker affiliates who are also aspiring professional poker players…… they are the worst. Allow me to rant for a second, because I have had several bad experiences working with affiliates who are more interested in pissing their affiliate revenue away at the tables. If you stay up until six in the morning playing online poker and have a losing session, the odds are you won’t be worth a shit in the morning. <———-Laziness. Trust me and every other super affiliate, there are bucket loads more money to be made promoting online poker than there is playing it. Bottom line though is that any affiliate reading this can attest that we work in a lazy industry.

It All Starts In The Morning - Regardless of what happened the night or day before, you need to wake up every morning with a good attitude. The first thing I do when I get out of bed in the morning is think to myself “It’s going to be a great day“. Then I have my coffee and walk out to my office to be smacked in the face with my goals. How you start out the first couple hours of your day will have a direct impact on your entire day.

If you want to be a super affiliate, you need to have a warrior mentality. You have to want it so bad that you’re willing to lose sleep and work countless hours in order to get to that level. If you’ve had past failures, forget about them, who cares, nobody is keeping score. Every day is a new day and today could be the day that you have that one great idea, the right door opens up, or something really good will happen in your business or personal life. EXPECT IT TO.

Labor Day WSOC (world series of croquet) & A New Week

    Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

Well, here I sit in my chair on Tuesday night after a long productive day. Before I get into the rest of the post, I just watched a segment on “Second Life” a few minutes ago. All I can say is that anyone who thinks online poker players are degenerates or addicted to the computer needs to read about these crazy fucks. If you live your life vicariously through an avatar, you have issues.

Jeremy Enke Croquet ProfessionalAnyhow, let’s get right into the WSOC. On Sunday my good friends and neighbors celebrated the first annual labor day World Series of Croquet. My wife was thrilled when she found out I mowed a croquet course in our well maintained front yard….. Apparently she doesn’t realize the importance of “The Rough” when playing in a world class croquet tournament. Camouflage shorts were not mandatory, but highly recommended as you can see.

The field was a tough one that consisted of myself, “Neighbor John”, “Neighbor Jay”, and our special guest “Dave”. No doubt this was probably one of the toughest groups of croquet players ever to come together in Illinois. Not too mention the course was amongst one of the top in the country. We’re talking rough, bent grass, driveways, sidewalks, mulch, and streets. Here are the competitors posing for the fans before the match.

    Croquet World Champions

The first match proved to be the most difficult. There were several lead changes and the entire field struggled on wicket #5 on the front nine. I actually took a full back swing and clobbered Dave’s son in the leg with a croquet ball on #5. So if you see a new member named Dave at Poker Affiliate World, there is a good chance I got sued and he now owns my equity. The winner of the first inaugural match and more importantly, the winner of the coveted Beer Growler was none other than Neighbor Jay. Let me be the first to say Congratulations.

The following two matches were dominated by Neighbor John. These wins however are still under review pending an investigation on illegal enhancement drugs that may have been used prior to the tournament. At the time of this writing John is still refusing to piss in a cup. He offered to piss in a shoe………we really don’t know what to make out of this. Perhaps it was because his maid was sitting in the box seats spectating.

    John’s Maid

When it was all said and done the Results were written on the driveway as can be seen. Yes I was skunked in croquet, but I do feel there was a bit collusion and shenanigans going on throughout the evening. Nonetheless, it was a great tournament and a fabulous way to cap off a Labor Day weekend.

As many of you know I had a shitty week last week for multiple reasons. Well, the good news is I have shaken all that off and I am very excited about the next three days of this week. There are so many exciting things going on in my business and personal life right now that I am not going to let one bad week or bad event ruin my mojo.

Not only is today a new week, we are starting a new month. I have never been more excited about a month than I am Sepetember 2007. I expect some very big things to happen this month. In fact tomorrow I am going to write a business post about one of the things that have guided my success throughout the years. That thing is “expectancy”. If you do not expect great things to happen in your business or personal endeavors, they never will.

There is a big difference in “hoping” something will be successful and “expecting” it to be a success. I hate when people throw a new business idea, and say “Dude this could be huge”…..I hate could be’s

Oh one last thing, I funded the first studio recording for an up and coming band. If they go big I’ll be pimping around the country on a tour bus with groupies…… (I hope my wife doesn’t read this post)
